My Gaming Landscape [January 23rd, 2017]

It’s back! Hello everyone. Welcome to my first Gaming Landscape in almost a year. After attempting to replace this with a new feature, Thoughts On, I’ve decided to stick with this format as it worked for me for a very long time. The only change is that I won’t be as strict with my rules as I was before. However, for you the reader, it should be the same as it’s always been. If you’re new here, this is an blog post where I talk about the games I’ve been playing and my impressions of them. So without further delay, here are the games I played between January 1st and January 23rd, 2016: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Dash, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

Discussing: The Legend of Zelda and The Loss of Wonderment

zelda610I did not grow up with The Legend of Zelda. Blame my local rental stores who never had it available. I grew up on the SNES and I played Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and other Nintendo classics. However, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past was never around. The first Zelda game I played was Ocarina of Time and at first I didn’t like it. The lack of a jump button really bothered me. However, several years later, I tried the original on the NES via an emulator and loved it. So I went back and tried Ocarina of Time again and enjoyed it. However, I never thought it was an amazing game.

Countdown: My 13 3DS Games of 2013

This year was the year I finally bought a Nintendo 3DS. Back in April, I went to my local Walmart and bought a blue 3DS XL with three games. Now the year is coming to an end and while at first I didn’t use my 3DS that much, I’m now in love with my 3DS. The games I’ve played has made me hopeful for the handheld’s library.
