Should I Wait or Should I Go?

Through the tangled old streets

And the dull edged knives

Is where my own feet

Must move in strides

And the hollering of kings

Escapes my ear

For the belly of underlings

As they appear

Should I wait or should I go

Into the valley that no one knows?

I wail “How could they

Know best for me

When they’ve not lived

A day in my feet?”

Yet still I hide here

With the blinds drawn closed

How can I reveal

When this is all I know?

Should I wait or should I go

Into the valley that nobody else knows?

Against all that I’ve learned

I took that first leap

To be the best fool I can be

To sow what I reap

But what does a fool do

When he knows too much

When the world’s both too cruel

And too soft to touch?

Should I wait or should I go?
