Man did I play a lot of games this past week. 15 to be exact! I played more Pokémon X, mostly just leveling, super training and petting my Pokémon. My Bulbasaur evolved into an Ivysaur so yay. I tried to play more Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver but I’m stuck again so I didn’t get far. I popped in Injustice: Gods Among Us for some online matches and I went through the story mode with Ares. I popped in Prince of Persia HD Trilogy and played more of Sands of Time. I’m around 3/4 of the way through the game. I gave Final Fantasy XIII a try again and made some progress with doing the Cie’th Stones or whatever they’re called. I’ve completed three of them, which is better than none so that’s progress at least. Not very fun, though.
I played some Sonic Generations because I felt like playing something Sonic. I’m usually kind of hard on that game but I had a good time getting S ranks on the challenges. The game also has a port of the first Sonic game on the Genesis so I played that as well. That version has a really good frame rate. Like way better than the Genesis version. I played some Samurai Shodown on MAME and tried to record it but it didn’t work. Still a fun game though. I played Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and tried to record that. Luckily it work, though that game is not as fun. It’s really frustrating.
I tried out demos for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD. The Marvel game was fun but predictable. It really is just the same as all the other LEGO games. Mirror of Fate HD on the other hand sucks as a port. I reviewed the original 3DS game and didn’t like it too much. This HD port does look a little better but not much and the controls are only better because it’s an Xbox 360 controller as oppose to a 3DS. Hell, the game isn’t even full screen! There’s black bars on the ends of the screen.
I played the first episode of the Walking Dead and fell in love with it. That game is so intense and engaging, I got mad at myself for not helping out that woman held up in the motel. The choices you have to make in that game really make you think about what they say about you as a person. After finishing the first episode, I bought the full series on the PC. I also bought the Mass Effect Trilogy and started on Mass Effect 1. I played some of it and I think it’s a bit slow but I’m liking so far. The controls on the PC take some getting used to since I can’t use a controller.
Gamefly sent me Puppeteer so I played through the first Act and I’m really digging it. The style and presentation in that game is just amazing, and the marionette theater vibe really gives the game charm. Gameplay is pretty good too but I feel like there’s too much hand holding so far for the sake of the story. Finally, I jumped into some Assassin’s Creed II since I’ve been hearing good things about Black Flag. I’m starting to like it more now that I’m building the Villa and I murdered someone important. The parkour stuff though feels less reliable than I remember from the first game. I’m jumping on platforms and to my death more than I should right now and it’s frustrating.
Whew! That’s what I’ve been playing. So what about you?
