Resisting the Deals

The Steam Summer Sale has been going on for almost a week now and I have vowed to not spend any money on it or any other deal despite having just been paid. In fact, I’m trying not to buy any games for awhile as I have so many games that I’ve bought and just put on the shelf, not to pick them up for months, even years. Case in point, before the Steam sale even started, I went to Walmart and bought Journey Collector’s Edition, Prince of Persia Trilogy and Max Payne 3. Haven’t played any of them yet. Instead I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption, a game I bought at least seven months ago if not more.

I think this is part of the plan I’ve been trying to do this year to make myself be a better gamer. The first part was to complete more games instead of giving up and moving on to whatever is new to me at that point. WIth that, I’ve actually been doing good. There’s been some games I’ve kinda given up on (Little Big Planet, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, Ni No Kuni) but I’ve beaten more games this year than I have in probably that last two or three years combined (Crysis 3, Infamous, DMC: Devil May Cry, BioShock Infinite, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Uncharted, L.A. Noire, the list goes on). So are any of you forgoing the deals of the summer and focusing on your backlog?
