Discussing: Appreciating SoCal from a Digital Perspective

I don’t get out much. Perhaps a stereotype of video gamers but I am mostly content with staying indoors, playing video games, surfing the web, listening to music or watching TV. Obviously, I go out to do your typical things like get groceries, gas, or eat out and I do occasionally visit friends but most of my time is spent in my room. Even my job has me essentially work from my computer. Needless to say, I view the world from a TV screen most of the time. Perhaps that’s why I like video games that immerse me in the world they take place in. Better than any other company at this idea is Rockstar Games. I’ve spent many hours in Vice City, cruising down the neon soaked streets and taking in the excessive nature of my surroundings. I’ve sang to Queen of Hearts while driving through the wilderness on my way to San Fierro in San Andreas. Most of all, I’ve experienced what the world feels like from a kid’s perspective in Bully, my favorite Rockstar game to date.

My Gaming Landscape [July 29, 2013]

I continued to play Red Dead Redemption, though I didn’t play it as much as I would’ve liked to. Work this week was kinda busy and I found myself with no energy left to play very many games, at least for a long time. Still, I did play RDR for a total of three hours or so. I really love the world in that game. I live in the desert in California and I’m also close to the mountains so it really makes me appreciate the history of where I live.

Discussing: Digital Games and the Woes of a Small Hard Drive

I love digital games. I have a Steam library of 162 games, a Xbox Live library of over 80 and a PSN library of over 40. However, one problem that has been a nagging issue for a long time now is the lack of hard drive space for said games.

My Gaming Landscape [July 22, 2013]

Not much to talk about this week so this is going to be quick. I played a little more of my nephew’s copy of Luigi’s Mansion. That game is pretty good. I’m not wild about it but I like it which is a drastic improvement over the original. I also kept playing Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. That game gets really hard when you try to do the time trials. I’m going slow on that game though as I’ve only played through the first two worlds. I didn’t play Red Dead Redemption again until yesterday and I did a few more missions. Still enjoying that game, though the freshness of the game has worn off. Started playing Bayonetta too. I did the prologue and so far, I’m kind of meh on it. Seems a lot like style over substance to me.

Resisting the Deals

steam_summer_sale_161010578476_640x360

The Steam Summer Sale has been going on for almost a week now and I have vowed to not spend any money on it or any other deal despite having just been paid. In fact, I’m trying not to buy any games for awhile as I have so many games that I’ve bought and just put on the shelf, not to pick them up for months, even years. Case in point, before the Steam sale even started, I went to Walmart and bought Journey Collector’s Edition, Prince of Persia Trilogy and Max Payne 3. Haven’t played any of them yet. Instead I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption, a game I bought at least seven months ago if not more.
