This is part three of my pitch for a Smash Bros style game with Microsoft characters. Continuing the list of of characters, lets look at some more characters from Microsoft as well as some third party characters that both are associated with the Xbox or are just cool to have.
Similar to why Heihachi is in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, this character isn’t exclusive to Xbox anymore but she used to be. Kasumi from the Dead or Alive franchise needs to be in this title. She would be a quick and fairly strong close combat character and her dodge would be more like her teleporting with only flower pedals left behind. Her level 1 would be an in close flip throw that does 35% damage. Level 2 would give her throwing stars that do 35% damage to anyone who gets hit by it and it would also lower their defenses. Level 3 will be an in close inescapable combo, which is structurally like Link’s Smash attack in Smash Bros Brawl, that instantly kills the opponent.
Next is Ryu Hayabusa, also from Dead or Alive but style as his version in Ninja Gaiden. Originally an Xbox exclusive the series has branched out onto other consoles. Ryu will control like he does in Ninja Gaiden and would utilize swords, scythes and shuriken in his attacks. His throw will be his Izuna Drop. Level 1 is a spinning sword attack that takes 25% health with each hit and moves forward. Level 2 is his Ice Storm attack from the 2004 Ninja Gaiden title. Similar to the level 1, each hit will take 40% health and is a vertical attack. Level 3 transforms Ryu into a giant dragon of fire, swirls around a section of the battlefield and instantly kills whoever gets caught in the area it surrounds.
The Call of Duty series may not be exclusive to the Xbox but it is mostly associated with the console. This is why it gets content exclusively before the PS3 or PC. For this reason I suggest Captain Price be added to the roster. He would control like Radec will control in PS All-Stars. Slow but powerful ranged attacks utilizing a sniper rifle, grenades, SOG knife and assault rifle. Level 1 would give Price a Flamethrower which can be used for a small period of time. Level 2 calls in a Predator missile that will cost major damage to any one caught in the blast. Level 3 has Price jumping into a helicopter and being able to shoot at the battlefield from a distance, killing anyone he hits.
This next character is from a game that wasn’t made by Microsoft nor was it published by them. However, it was exclusively on the Xbox. The original Xbox. Raikoh Minamoto from the Otogi series will be a great obscure character for fans of the series. He would control similarly to his own game with light, strong and magic attacks with his cross attacks being powered up versions of magic attacks. Level 1 summons a swarm of butterflies that attack all characters in the game. Level 2 summons a lightning attack that surrounds you and deals 40% damage. Level 3 summons three dragons that chase the other characters and will instantly kill them if they catch them.
PS All-Stars has Cole MacGrath. Xbox Champions will have Prototype’s Alex Mercer. He’ll be an all-around character that’s slightly slow but has medium ranged attacks as well. He’ll have both blade and claws based attacks in his arsenal and will have has glide ability as a third jump technique. Level 1 activates a ground spike attack that deals 30% damage. Level 2 is a shockwave that blows anyone on the ground away. Level 3 is his Tendril Barrage Devastator, in which Alex unleashes all these tentacles that impales all the characters in it’s range and instantly kills them.
Rare has a lot of mascot characters for the Xbox but so does Twisted Pixel. Therefore, Splosion Man needs to be in this game. He’ll punch and kick and his jumps will cause damage as he’s exploding. Ms. Splosion Man will be selectable as an alternate costume. Level 1 summons a jar that explodes propelling Splosion Man across the level, causing major damage to those who gets in the way. Level 2 summons Ms. Splosion Man (or Splosion Man if you’re playing as Ms. Splosion Man) and she / he will attack the other players separately for a short amount of time. Level 3 spawns two walls that will crush any enemy trapped between them, causing instant death.
Also from Twisted Pixel comes The Gunstringer. He’ll dual wield two pistols and be a quick ranged character. Level 1 would summon a skeleton hand that will randomly choose one enemy and grab him, preventing him from moving for a small amount of time. Level 2 will have the Gunstringer fire a multitude of shots across the field. Level 3 shows the Gunstringer disappear off-screen and then a stampede of people from Twisted Pixel run across the battlefield with the Gunstringer chasing after them. Getting caught in the stampede instantly kills opponents.
Finally, we have Captain Smiley from Comic Jumper. He’ll be an all around character with both physical attacks and two pistol for ranged attacks. Level 1 will have Star shout something, which produces a text bubble that will cause 25% damage to anyone who it comes in contact with. Level 2 summons an eraser that will shrink a character down, lowering their attack power and defense temporarily. Level 3 summons Brad who will shoot wildly across the battlefield killing anyone he comes in contact with, including Comic Jumper.
There’s the second batch of characters for the game. Two former exclusives, one third party exclusive, three first party exclusives, and two third party characters. The final batch I will talk about tomorrow in the fourth part of my Xbox Champions pitch.
