I’ve been playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the first time on XBLA for about a week now. I haven’t reached the inverted castle yet because I’m trying to explore the entire castle before I go after Richter but I’m enjoying myself. The week previously, I was playing Super Metroid on the Wii, for the first time as well, and although I’m not done with either title, I’ve spent a considerable about of time with both (6-8 hours) to give my impressions as well as some comparisons to both.
Back in April of this year, Sega announced their plan to cut down their company staff to focus only on four major franchises and digital releases. The reason for this restructuring appears to be due to flagging sales and profits. Since then, we’ve seen four Vintage collections on Xbox Live Arcade and announcements of upcoming re-releases of classic Sega titles such as Jet Set Radio, Sonic Adventure 2 and Nights into Dreams. We’ve also seen the delay of bigger titles such as Aliens Colonial Marines and Anarchy Reigns to next year.
So I’m actually going to talk about video games again!
I’ve managed to stick to playing only one game recently with just a few one off sessions with other games and trials. Since I don’t have a variety of games to talk about per se I’m going to pretty up this Gaming Landscape entry so it’s interesting.
