The developer of the Sly Cooper trilogy and Infamous games has been bought by Sony. Games developed by the Washington based game studio will not be exclusive to Sony consoles and portable systems. No managerial changes will be made. Sucker Punch recently released Infamous 2 in June of this year and is working with Capcom to include Infamous 2’s main character Cole MacGrath as an exclusive character for the PS3 and Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken.
I’m sure most gamers believe Sucker Punch was owned by Sony already since the company has only made titles for the PlayStation 2 and 3. However, the company’s first game was a little known title called Rocket: Robot on Wheels published by Ubisoft for the Nintendo 64. How do you feel about this acquisition? Personally, I think that Sony is a good company to develop games for and this acquisition will only help Sucker Punch make games quicker. Sly Cooper was my favorite new Sony IP from the PlayStation 2 era and I love the games they make. Maybe a new IP is a possibility for them now.
How do you feel now that this company is owned out right by Sony? Do you even care? Have you played the Infamous games or Sly Cooper? Do you think that this will help the developer in their new titles by the new amount of resources they’ll now have at their disposal? Or is Sucker Punch going to be creatively stifled by the Sony juggernaut that only wants to have money? Comment below and tell me how you feel.
