Top 25 PSN Games: My pick

Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection. It improved on the original and looked gorgeous in HD. I also loved leveling up my character and playing online. An early entry from PSN but still great today. Better than Tekken 6, that’s for sure.

Sonic the Hedgehog 20th Anniversary

Today is the 20th Anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. The first game was released for the Sega Genesis / Megadrive today in 1991. Sonic the Hedgehog is the character that introduced me to gaming. The first game I ever played was Sonic 2 when I was five years old. What does Sonic mean to you?

Bad Movies

I have a question. Can you legitimately say a movie is bad if you didn’t see the whole movie in its entirety? I tried to watch Burning Palms yesterday and I couldn’t get through it. However, the story had sounded so intriguing to me so I found a summary of the plot online and read it. I was so glad I stopped the movie when I did because the summary described an absolutely awful and unnecessarily offensive and hackneyed plot. I personally believe that you can past judgment to an extent on a movie or another form of media without having experienced it completely. Case in point: Stay the fuck away from “Burning Palms”.

Old School: Sega Saturn

SONY DSCWho remembers the Sega Saturn? I’m sure most of you do but I’m also willing to bet that none of you have played one. Released in the summer of 1995, the Sega Saturn had three processors, making it difficult to program for, tacked on 3D functionality as it was originally intended to be a super powerful 2D console, a $400 dollar price tag which was much more than consoles normally cost, low retailer support due to an early launch that excluded some big chains such as Wal-Mart and KB Toys, and a lackluster game lineup due to many of the games designed for the Saturn to be Japan exclusives. However, despite all that, the Sega Saturn has great games, especially for the hardcore crowd, and is a great collector’s item.

Colorwind Reacts: Capcom E3 2011 Line Up

Asura’s Wrath

I saw a trailer and gameplay of this game and it seems like it’ll be a fun game. The story follows Asura, a fallen god trying to seek revenge on this colleagues who have kidnapped his daughter. The gameplay is a cross between God of War and Bayonetta. You run around beating up baddies with the intensity of GoW but there are constant quick time events ala Bayonetta. The game may not be original but it looks like a competent copy. The graphics are quite good. It looks like it uses the same graphical design as Street Fighter IV. It has a cartoony look (albeit a dark one) and everything has deep crisp lines. It is to be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012.

Colorwind Reacts: Nintendo E3 2011 Press Conference

The Legend of Zelda

A video montage of Zelda opens the conference. It featured some scenes from the new Skyward Sword game and ended with The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary emblem. Shigeru Miyamoto then came onstage and instructed the orchestra to play different Zelda music. He then restated that Link’s Awakening will come out today on the DS store, and Ocarina of Time 3D coming out this weekend. He also announced that next week, Four Swords will come out as a free download. To celebrate the 25th anniversary, a gold Wii controller will be sold when Skyward Sword comes out. Also, a symphonic orchestra concert tour will be happening in the fall and will play Zelda music, along with soundtrack CDs for Ocarina of Time 3D and the aforementioned concert. Honestly, I expected more. Nothing new was announced and the music stuff is fine but not E3 announcement worthy.
